Brain principle:
Truthfulness
The
truth is our survival
mechanism
The truth is our security for survival. This
fact also explains our urge for seeking new
knowledge.
We see this principle with kids over and over again. Why is it
so important to be honest in their games?
The truth is basically the right information.
Our brain wants the truth in order to
survive. The more accurate the rules are, the bigger the
chance for survival. This is also an explanation for the
fact that most people tend to get nervous when they
lie.
On a deep unconscious level they know that lying eventually
will undermine their own desire of survival and that of
others.
This same principle is something you see in business
life and sports as well.
The key question always is: "Can I trust this person or
not?
If the answer is "YES", then I'll go for it. And these are very
often the teams that will win as well.
Exercises
- Whenever you entrust somebody with new
information, be aware that your brain will start test
processes with this person. Listen to them.
- Did you ever say: Wow that is not
honest?! The next time you think or say this, are
very aware of what is happening within your brain. It
could be very educative.
- Test your own fundamental convictions on
truthfulness
- Gather and check information in a
different environment.
